Mozaiku Prints
Mozaiku Prints shared how they work closely with independent artists to produce convention merchandise while reducing unnecessary waste. They explained that careful planning, proper print layouts, and thoughtful material selection all contribute to making production more sustainable. However, they also acknowledged that artists often face budget limitations, making environmentally friendly choices difficult. Their story highlighted the constant balance between affordability, quality, and sustainability, showing that manufacturers play an important role in helping artists make greener production decisions.

DEXACT Printing Services
When we spoke with DEXACT Printing Services, we wanted to understand what sustainability looks like behind the scenes of merchandise production. Their team walked us through their printing process from receiving artwork files to producing finished products such as stickers, prints, and zines. They explained that while they strive to use responsibly sourced materials like FSC-certified paper, these options are not always readily available or affordable in the Philippines. Despite these challenges, DEXACT continues to minimize waste by maximizing every print sheet and maintaining efficient production practices. Their insights reminded us that sustainability is not achieved overnight but through small, intentional decisions made throughout the manufacturing process.

YMKZ Prints
YMKZ Prints emphasized that sustainability begins with everyday production choices. From selecting local suppliers to reducing material waste during printing, they believe even small improvements can collectively reduce environmental impact. They also shared how educating clients about sustainable alternatives can encourage more responsible purchasing decisions. Their perspective reinforced one of our study's key findings: manufacturers are not only service providers but also partners in promoting sustainability within the creative community.
Merchants

Otogi Artworks
Otogi Artworks believes that Artist Alley is more than a marketplace it's a community where artists continuously learn from one another. During the focus group, Kitsune spoke about the importance of choosing reliable manufacturers, producing merchandise that lasts, and understanding how production choices affect both customers and the environment. The discussion also revealed that sustainability is a learning process. While eco-friendly alternatives are becoming more available, accessibility and affordability remain significant challenges for independent creators. Through collaboration and shared knowledge, Kitsune believes artists can gradually adopt better practices without sacrificing their creative identity. "Small changes may not seem like much at first, but when every artist contributes, those choices can have a meaningful impact."
